Medications for Hair Loss

Minoxidil is a widely used topical treatment for hair loss, primarily for androgenetic alopecia. •Increases blood flow to hair follicles, promoting hair growth. •Extends the growth phase (anagen) of hair follicles. •Encourages thicker and longer hair strands.

Finasteride is an FDA-approved oral medication for treating male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). It works by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT)—the hormone responsible for hair follicle shrinkage and hair loss.
